Do you use the same password for every account?

We all know that using “secure” passwords for our online accounts is important, but for convenience we often use the same password for all our online accounts. Unfortunately, that makes these accounts vulnerable to attack. 

Passwords are easy for attackers to obtain. For example:

• Email addresses and passwords get leaked online in data breaches
• Lists of passwords are often bought and sold online
• Software can be used to 'guess' passwords.

Most cyber security attacks are random, attackers look for easy ways to gather personal information online.  Their aim is simply to gather as much information as possible, and then use it for their own gain.

Remember be more aware of your password choices, changing them regularly and use more complicated combinations of letters, numerals and other symbols.  The link below provides some good advice on how to create a strong password.
