New Hawke’s Bay primary sector innovation award announced for 2018
Hawke’s Bay A&P Society and the Napier Port Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Awards have today launched the BWR Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Innovation of the Year award, adding to the exciting 2018 line up that recognises and celebrates success of the region’s primary sector.
The inaugural BWR Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Innovation Award, is open to individuals, organisations or businesses originating from or based in the Hawke’s Bay region.
BWR Director Craig Riddiford said BWR recognises the importance of the primary sector and the role that innovation plays in developing excellence and performance in that sector. Having been involved as a long-term sponsor of the Hawke’s Bay Farmer of the Year competition, we are thrilled to now be the naming sponsor of this exciting new innovation award.
“The winner of this inaugural award will no doubt be an individual or business displaying uniqueness, impact, scalability and innovation at every level and we are excited to be involved.”
With a proud history and its origins dating back to the early 1900’s, BWR is still a 100% locally-owned and operated Hawke’s Bay business committed to the region and helping new and existing clients on their unique journey.
“While we have a proud history, our eyes are firmly on the future and we understand the importance of innovation and technology for success in the ever-changing business environment.
Hawke’s Bay A&P Society Business Development Manager Hillary Riches said that the organising committee recognised the need to bring innovation into the Napier Port Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Awards, which is a stage on which we celebrate the leading primary sector businesses and its people.
As a gateway to world markets, many of the primary products designed and produced in Hawke’s Bay are handled by Napier Port. Napier Port chief executive Todd Dawson said the breadth of businesses using the port gives a real insight into the innovative spirit of Hawke’s Bay’s primary sector.
“We know that, while they may be modest about it, our primary exporters are consistently breaking new ground. There’s no shortage of success stories here in the Bay, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to shine a light on some of those at the Napier Port Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Awards.”
Entries for all awards within the Napier Port Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Awards close on 28 February 2018. More information is available at www.napierporthbpsawards.co.nz or by phoning Hillary Riches on 027 2588784.
